Prepare before storage
Machines that sit for months are more likely to develop fuel, corrosion and starting problems. A few minutes of preparation can save a repair bill later.
Storage steps
- Clean grass, dust and oil from the machine.
- Remove or manage old fuel correctly.
- Check the oil level before storage.
- Store in a dry place away from weather.
- Keep chainsaws with the bar and chain protected.
- Test generators periodically so they are ready when needed.
If a machine already starts poorly, service it before storage rather than leaving the problem to worsen.
